Welcome to Brookside, a quiet community on the banks of the Newtown Creek, adjacent to Newtown Borough.  Brookside’s 24 single-family detached homes, 57 townhomes, and 64 garden units draw a community of singles, young families, and retirees where we enjoy the beauty of nature with abundant open spaces and bounded by the gurgling creek.

The common areas of Brookside include a beautifully maintained pool, playground, basketball court, and event space in the barn.

Our History

Edward Hicks, Peaceable Kingdom

Brookside was started in 1978 and completed in 1985.  It was developed by Morris Milgram, a pioneer in mixed-income and interracial housing.

The property on which Brookside stands was once the farm of prosperous Quaker farmer David Twining and the childhood home of American folk artist Edward Hicks, famous for his paintings of the Peaceable Kingdom.
